“Legal Primer for Websites” is a practical guide to User Agreements, Privacy Policies and Commercial Email and CAN-SPAM. When visiting a website you will note one or more hyperlinks at the bottom of the home page labeled “Terms of Use,” “Legal,” or “Copyright Notice.” You may encounter a box labeled “I agree to the terms of use,” or “I have read and accept the terms of use.” Website agreements contain terms and provisions which govern the relationship between the contracting parties – the website operator (or service provider) and the user/visitor (or customer). Before using mass market standardized agreements, operators should carefully consider the terms and provisions included in these agreements. This course will generally discuss a number of issues confronting persons who use the Internet to conduct business.
Excellent paper accompanies this course.
